Strategies to Build a Huge Following

Here is a list which, if implemented properly, can get you regular targeted followers. Many of things sited in this checklist you may be doing already; others you meant to do and forgot about; still others you may have never heard of. Here are a few tips for getting a huge website/ blog following.

Page Title Tags. Perhaps the most important tag on a web site, as far as search engine rankings go, is the < Title > tag. The title tag is what the user will see at the top of the browser window, as well as in the search results as the linked title to your Web page. Title tags help search engines determine your web page's relevancy for certain keyword phrases. Making a good title tag is pretty simple by the end of this how-to, you'll have a new meta tag optimization. The description should be kept to 70 characters or less, describing the content of the particular webpage, using the main keywords and keyphrases on that page. Don't include keywords that don't appear on the webpage.

Page Description: The maximum number of characters in the page description should be about 150. Place the Description META Tag at the top of the webpage, between the tags, in this format:

Optimize Your Site! The most important part to get huge following for your site is to get your site search engine optimized. The traffic which comes from search engines is phenomenal; it gives a good conversion rate in addition to advertising of your site.

Include Descriptive Keywords in the ALT Attribute of Image Tags. This helps your site be more accessible to site-impaired visitors and gives additional clues to the search engines. The ALT attributes help a great deal to get your images ranked higher for image search. For those that have no idea how to write an Alt Tag into your image – it will usually look something like this

“these

A word of caution – don’t stuff your Alt Tags full of keywords – especially ones that don’t relate to the rest of your page as they run the risk of being seen as spam.

Use Keywords in Hyperlinks. Keywords in hyperlink boost search engine rankings. Search engines often attribute more weight to hyperlinks in your webpages, so hyperlink your important keywords and keyphrases.

Create a Sitemap. When you create your Sitemap you are actually creating a XML document created by crawlers goint through every single page on your site. This tells search engine crawlers what pages to take notice of and which ones change. You can use a free tools, XML-Sitemaps.com to create XML sitemaps that are used by the major search engines to index your webpages accurately.

Promote Your Video, Images, and Audio Content. Most search engines display webpage content, as well as relevant listings for images, videos, local businesses, and audio clips. Therefore, consider creating such content appropriate to your business and then optimizing it so it can be ranked high enough to help you.

Use Keywords in Heading Tags. Search engines consider keywords that appear in the page headline and sub heads to be important to the page, so make sure your desired keywords and phrases appear in one or two header tags. More weight is given to keywords that appear within H1 and H2 tags.

Targeted Keywords per Page. It’s best keep the number of keywords or phrases at 10 keyword per page. Build several webpages on your site, each of which is focused on targeted keywords or key phrases for which you would like a high ranking.

This kind of SEO can be time-consuming, painstaking work that takes a lot of specialized knowledge. For this reason, many small and large businesses outsource search engine optimization. Best Tips for On an Off Page Optimization

There is no point in having a website that no one knows about or visits. If you wish to pull out your website from the depths of obscurity, you should drum up some publicity for it and bait the search engine bots the right way. When you form a plan for your SEO campaign, you should give due weightage to both on and off-page optimization to make the best of both the worlds.

While on-page optimization has its focus on using unique and relevant content, targeting the right keywords, modifying their frequency in the Title, URL, Headings, text of the web page and Hypertext Links, off-page optimization strategies are done off the web pages to help the site get featured on search results for relevant search terms. In case all this seems like a Herculean task, here are 20 steps that will offer help for your on-page and off-page optimization endeavor.

On-page optimization

Content (keywords, meta information, to increase searches) - Approximately 25% of visits are based on content.
  • Your Title tag and Meta Descriptions should have the proper keyword density.
  • Don’t go for a short cut by copy pasting the same Meta Descriptions for each web page. Rather, make them relevant and unique for each page. For example, the description for your Home page should definitely differ from what you use for the Services page.
  • Use keywords in the Alt tags for your images.
  • Vary the anchor text while interlinking your web pages. Don’t use the same text everywhere in order to save effort.
  • Place a site map to help your visitors and the search engine bots navigate and crawl the site easily.
  • Get W3C Validation to ensure that your site works well with all kind of browsers.
  • Check your links and remove the ones that are broken.
  • Do not load every web page with all your selected keywords. Rather, make a list of the ones that are relevant for each page and use them accordingly.
  • Have a robot.txt file with proper instructions so that only the pages that you want are crawled by the search engine bots.
  • Use static links for your important web pages.

Off-page optimization

Drive traffic to site through linking - Approximately 75% of visits are based on links.
  • Submit your site to the relevant categories of high ranked directories.
  • Write unique articles and submit them to various article directories, using the author resource box to link bank to your website.
  • Create your own blog and upload regular posts answering common problems or sharing your expertise on a relevant niche in order to bring traffic to your site.
  • Find relevant blog posts by others and post comments, using your website link in the proper place to get backlinks. It pays to select do-follow blogs for this purpose as backlinks from no-follow blogs aren’t considered for ranking of web pages by various search engine robots.
  • Become a member of some popular forums dealing with your niche and build a fan following over there, so that people from the forums are enticed to pay a visit to your website.
  • Use social networking sites to participate in relevant discussions and build your credibility as well as brand recognition via interaction with people from far and wide.
  • Social bookmaking is another way of creating a commendable online presence.
  • You can submit press releases (free or paid) to various online sites, which in turn can provide you with precious backlinks and let the word out about your offerings.
  • You can opt for link exchange with highly ranked and relevant websites.
  • Whether it’s one way, two way, three way or multiway linking, make sure that you provide the correct anchor text to sites linking back to you so that you reap the most from such backlinks.
Though there are many other SEO tactics to help your website page rank climb up, the aforesaid ones are some of the basic steps that you can begin with. So, here’s wishing you good luck with your SEO campaign!

Write Unique Content

There are number of tools and software available, like Copyscape which will permit you to do search and will help you in avoiding posting blog post which is similar to those that has been written already by others.

This way you will be able to write on your site without plagiarizing of others content. Many SEO professionals would be able to assist you further for managing and organizing the content of your blogs offsite and onsite.

Facebook Promotion 101: How to Develop a Like Campaign

Contrary to what many people think, Facebook likes don’t come with the territory. Yes it’s easy to create a page and get a few likes, but is usually stops there for lesser known companies. Getting your first 1000 or even 500 likes is definitely the hardest. It takes time and patience to boost your exposure and reach on Facebook. So let’s take a look at the more important steps you’ll need to take in order to develop and carry out a successful “like” campaign.

Tag Your Page

Using the Facebook tagging system is a great way to promote your page and get more visitors and likes. You can do this by posting a status message on your personal Facebook profile and mentioning your Facebook page. Use your creativity to come up with a clever way to get people to click through to your page and “like” it. Maybe you have a special promotion going on or you have an interesting link that you’ve posted – anything to peak the interest of your Facebook friends.

Suggest to Friends

Every page has a handy link in the sidebar called “Suggest to Friends” which allows you to do just that. It’s a great way to recommend your page to your friends, who are sure to like it just because they’re you’re friends and want to support. Just don’t abuse this feature because many people are sure to get annoyed if you’re constantly bugging them about it.

Contests, Giveaways, Promotions

You can never go wrong with a contest or giveaway; not too many people will turn down free prizes. The best way to do this is to require users to like your page before being able to see any information about the promotion. This is easy since you can create a new tab dedicated to the contest or giveaway and then make it viewable fans only. Of course you’ll want to make sure that you’re giving away something that is valuable and worth the “like.”

A great tool for creating and managing Facebook promotions is wildfire. With all of their integrated tools, features and statistics you’re sure to increase your Facebook page fans.

Connect to Twitter

Twitter’s popularity does not seem to be slowing down at all. So why not take advantage of one of the top social sites on the Web? You can do that by linking your page twitter and converting followers to fans. Upon setting this up, all of your Facebook page posts will be sent to your Twitter profile along with a link. Hopefully you’ve already built up a decent following on Twitter and continuously working on building your brand there.

Use a Like Box

Facebook social plugins, namely the Like box, are a very effective way of getting more likes for your page. You can customize it as you like and then add it to your website or blog. Visitors to your site can then “like” your page without even having to go to Facebook. It can also display recent posts from your page and other fans. If you have a site with high traffic, you really should not be without this.

Use Facebook as Your Page

Many people are not too familiar with this feature, but you can actually use Facebook as your page instead of as your personal profile. This allows you to comment on and “like” content as your own brand and really helps to extend your reach and peak the interest of others. Just remember that you’re representing your company and all of your actions will show up on your fan page. You’ll want to be careful of what you say and “like,” yet use your creativity to get new fans.

Facebook Ads

Running an add on Facebook is smart, easy and effective. You can target users by location, age and interest. What you put in your ad is important; you’ll need a catchy image and text to grab people’s attention. A “like” button can be displayed below your ad, which makes it quick for users to become a fan. Often times you can even find advertising coupons for Facebook floating around the Web. This is as a great way to test the waters before getting your feet wet.

One of the best things about Facebook ads is being able to target the friends of those users who have already liked your page. They’ll see your ad and the fact that a name they’re familiar with has already liked it is sure to peak their interest.

Along with all of these tips, also make sure you’re utilizing your social media profiles and bookmarking sites. You’ll want to share the link to your page anywhere you can and bookmark it for others to find (ie. LinkedIn, Google Buzz, Delicious, Reddit). Make sure you’re using appropriate tags and a catchy description for SEO purposes. You never know where people will find out about your page, but the most important part is that they do find out about it.

Also remember that these tips are not a one-time thing. You’ll have to keep up with promoting your Facebook page on a regular basis until you reach your desired goal. Good luck.

6 SEO Strategies That Can Generate Highly Targeted Traffic

Developing SEO strategies that can drive an immense amount of traffic to your site within a month is not an easy task, especially if you want your site’s visitors to convert into profits. Generating highly targeted traffic or visitors that have the intent of availing the services or products that you are offering is the best way to really earn from your website.

The good news is that there are many ways that you can do to hasten the process of having your site noticed by people who are in need of the information, services or products that you provide. Here are some of the ways that you can do to generate specifically targeted online visitors in under a month.

1. Target easy to rank long-tail keywords through blog posts

If your site has no blog section yet, then you better start including one. Blogs can benefit your business in so many ways, and consistently driving traffic to your site is one of them. Using long-tail keywords in your blog posts’ titles (eg. How to learn SEO), can extremely help your site’s performance in terms of traffic generation, seeing as this strategy can very much take your blog posts on top of SERPs without further improving them through off-page optimization or link building.

Blog posts can naturally rank on their own basing on its topical relevance as seen by search engines, and taking advantage of low competition keywords will make your pages rank on the top page of SERPs in no time, which means more organic traffic to your site.

2. Targeting 3 -5 keywords for each page on your site

Creating your pages or blog posts with the intent of ranking for more than 2 keywords is always a smart move, since it will allow your site to draw more relevant traffic along the process. Say, if your site has 15 blog posts or pages on its first month, and each page are targeting 3 different keywords. Doing the math will give you a result of 45 keywords giving you constant traffic within a month.

Doing this strategy is very simple, wherein you just have to use or combine your targeted keywords on your page or post’s title, URL and on the body copy (eg. Top 10 advanced on-page SEO strategies). With the given example of a post title you are able to target 7 keywords that you can use within the body of the content, including:

* Advanced on-page SEO strategies
* On-page SEO strategies
* On-page SEO
* Advanced SEO

* Advanced on-page SEO
* On-page optimization strategies
* On-page SEO techniques

3. Dofollow blog commenting

Commenting on blogs with the same theme as your site – particularly blogs that allow dofollow attributed links on their comment section – is one of the most effective ways to promoting your site as well as in improving your keywords’ search rankings. This technique has a lot of advantages and can certainly take your campaign a long way, given that this method allows you to acquire relevant backlinks and can possibly build relationships with other bloggers related to your niche.

Networking with other bloggers is extremely beneficial, especially with higher value link placements such as special mentions, in-content links (used as a resource), guest blogging opportunities and sponsored reviews. Anyway, leaving comments on blogs with the use of your keywords as anchor texts can help improve its search rankings in just weeks, particularly if the links that you’ve built are from topically relevant pages and are dofollow attributed.

4. Guest blog posting

Guest blogging has been known to be a link building method that’s really advantageous in terms of driving relevant traffic, acquiring high quality links, passing through Pagerank and in improving SERP rankings. It’s best to choose blogs that are relevant to your site, have high page ranks and receives a lot of traffic on their site (can be based through Alexa traffic rank).

In choosing the topic to write for guest postings, writing topics that are strictly about the keywords you are aiming at is the most effective way to get most out of this technique, since the link that you’ll be able to build through your author bio will have higher scores basing on its relevance as well as in targeting the audience that will be able to read it.

5. Forum participation

Forum posting is a good start for any campaign, especially if you choose to participate on high PR and high traffic forum sites. The best way to benefit from this method is to establish an expert or knowledgeable image through this channel, and not just focusing on building links through your signature.

Establishing yourself through forum sites and being genuinely active in participating with the community can bring you targeted visitors and interested clients within a month, so spending 30 minutes a day on 1 or 2 authority forums around your site’s industry is certainly worth it.

6. Article submission and converting your articles

This link building method has proven its worth over the past decade and is still known to be one of the most effective ways in generating consistent traffic as well as highly relevant links that can boost your search rankings. The best thing about article marketing is that it’s capable of building solid links as it gets syndicated naturally, particularly if you have written a solid and informative article. Submitting an exceptionally written article to several highly trusted article directories (such as Ezinearticles, Articlesbase, Goarticles,Amazines, and many more) can enhance its chances of getting scraped or used by other sites that are seeking for quality content to be posted, which gives you more extra links and of course, more traffic.

But there’s more to this method than just the traditional article marketing, you can as well convert your articles to other formats for more exposure and external links pointing to your site. Converting your articles to PDF, podcasts, slide/powerpoint presentation and videos, and then submitting them to their respective directories can extremely amplify your site’s traffic in a short period of time, given that these formats have higher chances of ranking high on search engine result pages.

Robots.txt file and robots meta tags

In order to get a good ranking on different search engines you need to be aware to the importance of the robots.txt file. A lot of sites do not have the robots.txt file. This file regulates which parts of your site are closed for spiders and other search bots to visit. This file is useful to avoid unwanted search engine spiders like email searchers, image retrievers, etc. Robots.txt is also useful if you want to avoid access for some confidential information or some confidential files.

Robots.txt format and structure

Robots.txt file is a specific file that is should be located in the website root directory on the Web server. Robots.txt file restricts different Web Spiders (robots) from visiting of undesirable places on the website.

It tells them where on the site space they have permission to search and where do not. Actually a Robots.txt defines regulation for search engine robots where they have an access and where not. Indeed robots are not obligated to respect robots.txt files, but most of them comply with the regulations are defined in robots.txt. The robots.txt file should be written in special format. The robots.txt file consists of number of records. Each record combined from two fields: a "User-agent" field and one or more "Disallow:" fields. The format may be determined as: ":" If the robots.txt file is empty it the equal that it is not present at all. The robots.txt file should be created in Unix like editors with the line ender mode. (Windows editors normally end a line in a text file with a "/r" and "/n" character, while Unix uses an "/n" only, and Macs use a "/r" only.) Most Windows text editors have a Unix mode. When you transfer a file using ASCII transfer mode on FTP client programs it does a "translation" for the Unix mode.

The User-agent field describes the robot. Most popular search engines have special names for their robots. You can find all search engines user agent names in your logs by searching for requests to robots.txt.
For example :
User-agent: googlebot
If you want to specify all robots use the symbol "*" :
User-agent: *

The "Disallow" part of a record consists of directive lines. The robots.txt files format requires that at least one disallow line should be related for each User-agent field. These lines specify describe directories and files that should be not visited by the bot. For example, the following "Disallow" line restricts robots to download images directory: Disallow: /images/ And the following line instructs the robot to avoid visit the terms.html file: Disallow: terms.html. Which would block spiders from your cgi-bin directory. If you the Disallow line has not any symbol, it means that all files of your sitemay be downloaded.

The "robots" meta tags

An alternative to "robots.txt" is to use the robots meta tags in order to restrict robots access to some pages on your website.

Here's a list of the values you can specify within the "contents" attribute of these tags:

Value Description
(no)index Affects on whether robot should index this page or not. Possible values: "noindex" or "index"
(no)follow Affects on whether robot should follow links on this page and crawl them or not. Possible values: "nofollow" and "follow."
Unfortunately not all search engines can read meta tags. So the robots meta tags may be ignored. Therefore the preferable way to inform search engines about restrictions of some file visiting is to use a robots.txt file

10 SEO Tips

It is not hard to be barking up the wrong tree when it comes to getting search engine traffic because there is so much out of date information being circulated.

That is why it is always best to also learn many other traffic generation methods like viral marketing for example.

Not only is there out of date or invalid SEO advice getting around, there is also information which if acted upon, can result in your pages being banned.

The SEO teps below should assist the reader in forming a basic understanding of how to create human friendly web pages which are easily understood by the most popular search engines.

Know this. There are thousands of search engines but only two of them will bring you most of the traffic. They are google and yahoo. Another search engine that brings me a little traffic is msn but I do not focus too much on tactics for that engine.

Focus your attention on the engines that will bring you the most visitors first and work your way down.

Basic SEO

1. Insert keywords within the title tag so that search engine robots will know what your page is about. The title tag is located right at the top of your document within the head tags. Inserting a keyword or key phrase will greatly improve your chances of bringing targeted traffic to your site.

Make sure that the title tag contains text which a human can relate to. The text within the title tag is what shows up in a search result. Treat it like a headline.

2. Use the same keywords as anchor text to link to the page from different pages on your site. This is especially useful if your site contains many pages. The more keywords that link to a specific page the better.

3. Make sure that the text within the title tag is also within the body of the page. It is unwise to have keywords in the title tag which are not contained within the body of the page.

Adding the exact same text for your h1 tag will tell the reader who clicks on your page from a search engine result that they have clicked on the correct link and have arrived at the page where they intended to visit. Robots like this too because now there is a relation between the title of your page and the headline.

Also, sprinkle your keywords throughout your article. The most important keywords can be bolded or colored in red. A good place to do this is once or twice in the body at the top of your article and in the sub-headings.

4. Do not use the exact same title tag on every page on your website. Search engine robots might determine that all your pages are the same if all your title tags are the same. If this happens, your pages might not get indexed.

I always use the headline of my pages as the title tag to help the robots know exactly what my page is about. A good place to insert the headline is within the h1 tag. So the headline is the same as the title tag text.

5. Do not spam the description or keyword meta tag by stuffing meaningless keywords or even spend too much time on this tag. SEO pros all agree that these tags are not as important today as they once were. I just place my headline once within the keywords and description tags.

6. Do not link to link-farms or other search engine unfriendly neighborhood .

7. Do not use doorway pages. Doorway pages are designed for robots only, not humans. Search engines like to index human friendly pages which contain content which is relevant to the search.

8. Title tags for text links. Insert the title tag within the HTML of your text link to add weight to the link and the page where the link resides. This is like the alt tag for images.

My site contains navigation menus on the left and right of the page. The menu consists of links not images. When you hover over the link with your mouse, the title of the link appears. View the source of this page to see how to add this tag to your links.

9. Describe your images with the use of the alt tag. This will help search engines that index images to find your pages and will also help readers who use text only web browsers.

10. Submit to the search engines yourself. Do not use submission service or submission software. Doing so could get your site penalized or even banned.

Here is the submission page for google: http://www.google.com/addurl.html

Submit only once. There is no need to submit every two weeks. There is no need to submit more than one page. Robots follow links. If your site has a nice link trail, your entire site will get indexed.

My site has a nice human friendly link trail which robots follow easily. All my pages get indexed without ever submitting more than the main index page once.

Tips on Coping with Google Panda and How to Get Traffic with Non-Google Techniques

Tips on Coping with Google Panda and How to Get Traffic with Non-Google Techniques

Google Panda is perhaps the most significant algorithm update to ever hit the Internet, yet. It's been a month since Google rolled out the new algorithm and it's still one of the hottest topics in the SEO world. This isn't surprising, though, because the update practically reshaped the search landscape.

According to Google, the new algorithm is intended to improve search quality - Panda is aimed at eradicating duplicated content, low-quality articles and pages with worthless information.

Millions of pages in just about every topic area took a dramatic drop down the search results. Content farms are the main target, but in the process of filtering out content farms, several high quality sites were also affected. To add insult to injury, many of the high quality affected sites do their own SEO and are clueless as to how to fix the damage.

The website Mahalo.com, a massive information resource, has been practically squeezed out of Google's organic search rankings. As a result, Mahalo reported a 10% employee reduction.

While a massive number of websites have been scurrying to get their lost rankings back, some have used Google Panda to their advantage. Some unaffected sites announce traffic increase of about 10% ever since Panda's release.

All this commotion over Google Panda and its impact over search results bring us back to one of the most basic ingredient of online marketing: high quality, compelling and relevant content.

If your Google search positioning suddenly dropped like a stone, don't hit the panic button just yet. There are ways to redeem your website and get back in the game.

  1. Check if Panda is the culprit.

Panda was rolled out on February 24th, so if your rankings plummeted before or much later, the reason could be something else. Check your analytics before you blame the new algorithm.

Countries outside the United States haven't experienced Panda yet. Start filtering out US-based visits to get to the bottom of the dip in rankings.

  2. Look at each of your site's pages.

Google Panda looks at individual pages for low-value, scraped or shallow content. Therefore, you can easily find out where to start the site revamp by looking at pages that have performed terribly since the algorithm change.

  3. Create original, interesting and deep content.

It only makes sense to re-evaluate your site's content and do a content overhaul. The basic SEO rules are still the same. Create great content – the kind you'd like to read online. Authoritative, useful and unique content always wins. If you think content that simply rotates around keywords work, you couldn't be more wrong because that is exactly what Google Panda wants to eliminate. Do what's necessary to have content that's valuable to readers.

  4. Remember, Google Search is not the ONLY source of traffic

Google has somehow bent the Internet and everything in it to its will. This brings us to one vital peace of advice: don't depend solely on a third party business model, e.g. Google. Otherwise, you're bound to fail at one point or another.

Get a clue from what Google continually aims for: making its users happy, not content makers or website owners.

Also, Google always points out the need to establish a brand, not a website. This is why the search engine tends to support established brands

Learn seo within 2 hours

Its simple to learn a seo but practice makes you as a professional seo person. Why you need to spend more money on seo just you can do it own for your sites.

Many clients and prospects ask SEO professionals to prioritize their organic optimization strategies. What's the most important component of an SEO campaign? Is it keyword selection and placement? Link development is certainly essential. But where does it fall in the list of SEO priorities?

Every SEO expert will give you a different answer.

The Foundation of Successful SEO

The foundation of a successful SEO program consists of the following building blocks:

  • Keyword-rich text. The majority of a site's pages should contain the words and phrases the target audience types into search queries. Pages should appear somewhat focused on these important keyword phrases, and the phrases should be featured prominently on the page. Otherwise, the page won't convert well or receive consistent search engine traffic over time. Keyword research and copywriting for individual HTML tags are a part of this building block.

  • Information/site architecture and page layout. Search engines and end users must be given easy access to keyword-rich content.
